No matter were the data is, due to the Management Information System Implementation, business analysts with feeble IT background are able to create reports, charts, tables and cross tabs effectively and without any help provided by IT specialist and consultants. Balanced Scorecard translates strategy into operational terms - the list o goals and actions, that all are measurable. As a consequence of quantitative description, strategy becomes easy to communicate to all the employees. Greater understanding of company strategy goals leads to better results in fields of efficiency and finances. In addition to this, quantitative strategic goals allow to monitor strategy realization and to straightforwardly establish how far away from its vision a company is. According to Balanced Scorecard strategy is hypothesis on cause and effect relations between different company strategic goals. Regarding strategy as a hypothesis permits verifying strategy correctness and what if analysis. It also helps to quickly adapt strategy to changing market environments. Balanced Scorecard builds ideal foundation for knowledge management and payroll system supporting strategy realization. By management boards it is commonly regarded as a platform for discussing strategy, its realization, and required changes in strategy. Balanced Scorecard permits to balance different strategic goals, that compete between each other for limited resources. The second important and original use of Balanced Scorecard is performance management. In contrast with other performance measurement techniques Balanced Scorecard covers not only financials indices that measure results achieved in past but also indices that measure potential of the company in future and forthcoming performance (performance of future). The indices of the future mentioned before concern clients perspective, internal process perspective and learning and growth. More information about Balanced Scorecard
Activity-Based Management (ABM) is a set of innovative techniques based on Activity-Based Costing (ABC) theory. ABM concentrates on activities and regards them principally as they directly lead to long lasting competitive advantage. ABM allows to establish process and activities costs, which greatly enhance effectiveness of process management. ABM is a sophisticated tool which allows for designing effective cost reduction programs as well as for increasing efficiency, especially if a company has taken advantages of simple reserves such as outsourcing, over employment and automatics. Activity-Based Costing provides reliable and valuable information about costs to acquire, keep and serve a client in each market segment; further more it allows to establish accurate costs of market segments, sales channels, products, services and special projects. By means such as cost driver analysis, result (activity output) analysis, process performance analysis ABM encourages to implement initiatives that lead to process improvements and efficiency enhancement. In case of energy suppliers and producers and of telecom companies it gives entirely new view on tariffs costs and network product profitability. Without ABM information process oriented companies are concentrating on quality which in many cases cause uncontrolled cost increase. ABM allows to control cost of better quality, it also allows to assess investments in quality in their financial aspect. Without ABM the decisions which clients should be acquired, which should be left behind, which sales channels should be used to serve to each market segment, which product and services should be promoted are mostly based on intuition. ABM provides information that allows better decision making based on information that replaces intuition. More information about Activity Based Management
